| Built
of thatch and local hamstone, this Grade II listed 18th century cottage
has been completely refurbished to offer very comfortable accommodation
in a small, quiet Somerset village whose main street is still lined
with many ancient cottages. There is a church and a good pub.
West Chinnock is 4 miles from the market town of Crewkerne and an
easy drive from the South West Dorset/East Devon World Heritage
coastline. Cricket St Thomas Wildlife and Theme Park has a whole
variety of attractions and animals to interest children while for the
older generation, the area is rich in fine stately homes and gardens
including Montacute, Tintinhull, Forde Abbey, Parnham and Brympton
d'Evercy. For keen anglers the Somerset levels provide excellent coarse
fishing and the area offers many walks through scenic countryside.
Although substantially modernised, Thatch Cottage retains some of the
charm and character of an older cottage; the bedrooms still have wide
elm floorboards and there is a large inglenook in the sitting room. |
