from a traditional stone barn in the tiny hamlet of Penselwood, on the
borders of Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset, Pen Mill Cottage enjoys an
idyllic, rural setting, at the lower end of a hidden valley overlooking
three cascading ponds, with rolling pastureland and woodland beyond.
The cottage is perfect for a family as the large garden offers endless
scope for playing and the stream and ponds provide endless hours of
amusement damming and catching crayfish. (N.B. not ideal for toddlers) There is also a swing in the garden and a games room in an old stable with table tennis, swing ball
and darts.
The cottage adjoins one other dwelling on the north side of a former
farmyard but is essentially very private and secluded; the other barns
are now used for stabling in addition to the games room for visitors to
the cottage.
There is much to do in the area... wonderful walking on the owner's 150
acre farm and adjoining Stourhead Estate (National Trust), riding
stables 4 miles away or stable your own horse at Pen Mill Cottage, golf
at adjacent Bullpits 9 hole course (temporary membership provided),
coarse fishing, clay pigeon shooting& and much to see&..visit
major tourist sites such as Stonehenge, Stourhead, Longleat, Bath,
Salisbury & Wells, interesting gardens and specialist nurseries and
explore the local pubs, including The White Lion at Bourton (10
minutes' walk across the fields).
Pen Mill Cottage is light and spacious and furnished and equipped to
high specifications. All rooms are at ground floor level making the
cottage suitable for elderly visitors.
