Kate's
Cottage is quietly situated along a 'no through' lane on the edge of
the village of Winterbourne Kingston which nestles in a valley, some 2
miles to the north of Bere Regis. Its situation makes it ideal for
visiting a really spectacular stretch of South Dorset coastline, which
lies between Weymouth and Poole, and includes Lulworth Cove, Durdle
Door, Kimmeridge (fossils), Swanage and Studland Bay on the Isle of
Purbeck.
The New Forest, to the east, is within easy driving distance while
further inland and northwards is some of Dorset's most impressive
upland scenery with breathtaking views from such high points as
Bulbarrow Hill (898 feet).
Winterbourne Kingston itself has a village pub, while the Georgian
market town of Blandford (only 7 miles) and the county town of
Dorchester (13 miles) provide good shopping centres.
Kate's Cottage is some 200 years old with thick cob walls typical of
this area and has the advantage of being detached, affording privacy
and seclusion. A short walk along the lane by the cottage leads to the
winter bourne and from there to the village pub.Kate's Cottage has been
extensively refurbished and tastefully re-decorated by its owners.
There is an enclosed garden, which is safe for children.
