| This
comfortable, white painted, stone and thatched town cottage (left in
photo with porch) is situated at the entrance to Shaftesbury town
centre - within a few minutes' walking distance from the town centre
shops, pubs and restaurants.
Shaftesbury is a picturesque, ancient Saxon hilltop town with
superb views across the Blackmore Vale. In the 9th century King Alfred
established the Abbey where King Canute died in 1035. Shaftesbury's
most famous cobbled street - Gold Hill, lined with old stone cottages,
has appeared in many adverts and magazines. To the south of
Shaftesbury, again within 5 to 10 minutes drive of the cottage, is some
spectacular unspoilt countryside designated of Outstanding Natural
Beauty - Melbury Beacon, Win Green and Fontmell Down offer stunning
views across this landscape.
Butts Cottage is one of a row of three cottages which has been
refurbished to a high standard. It is double glazed, tastefully
decorated and retains much of its original character.
