Brooklands Barn is all at ground floor level, very light and spacious and lacking for nothing in terms of its facilities. Newly converted from a barn in 2007, it is now at the top of the Visit Britain 4 star grading category.

Entrance hallway. Very large, open plan living room comprising a sitting area with fireplace containing an electric 'woodburning effect' fire, a dining area and a fitted kitchen with fully integral appliances; French windows lead out onto a paved terrace. 2 bedrooms, both having access onto the terrace - double bedroom, en suite shower room/wc with extra wide cubicle and a twin bedroom. Main bathroom/wc with double ended bath and independent shower over bath.

In front of the barn is a sunny, paved terrace and to the side, a further private area of garden overlooking the stream with "Wendy House", bordered by a post & rail fence. From here there is access via a gate down steps to the stream with a small, decked sitting out area - N.B. small children must be supervised and accompanied by an adult. Beyond the driveway is a further large, grassed area with access into a paddock.

Offering accommodation of an excellent standard, Brooklands Barn enjoys a peaceful, rural setting in the grounds of a Grade II listed, miller's cottage on the edge of the village of Fontmell Magna. The barn stands some 50 yards away from the owner's cottage but affords ample privacy to its guests and offers an open outlook across a paddock to the south side. Running just behind it is the magical, spring fed Fontmell Brook, which provides a haven for wildlife - wild brown trout, ducks, kingfishers and even the occasional otter.

This part of Dorset boasts beautiful, unspoilt countryside and there are lovely walks to be enjoyed in the immediate neighbourhood with a footpath leading from the village up to Fontmell Down, which affords far-reaching views across North Dorset. Guests can also explore the nearby "Brooklands Wood", managed by the Woodland Trust. The area has richly contrasting landscapes - the high chalk ridges of Hambledon, Bulbarrow, Melbury Beacon and Win Green and the low-lying Blackmore Vale, crossed by the River Stour. Visitor attractions are numerous - historic towns and cities such as Sherborne, Salisbury and Bath and stately homes and gardens such as Longleat, Stourhead and Kingston Lacy. Within 30-45 minutes' driving distance to the south is a magnificent stretch of the World Heritage South Dorset coastline, from Poole to Portland Bill.

Fontmell Magna itself lies between the ancient Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury with its famous cobbled street, Gold Hill, and the Georgian market town of Blandford Forum. The main street is lined with attractive, stone cottages and there is a local PO stores & pub, half a mile from the barn as well as local tennis courts and a children's play area.
